Greetings everyone,

This ordeal is finally over and everything seems to be back online.

Sometime mid-January upstream providers were cracking down on open DNS resolvers, mainly due to several security bulletins published around that time, IIRC. This put pressure on the host for my T1 for the .neo zone and they suspended my service. My primary ICANN DNS instance was also taken out on a separate host again due to the pressure from the upstream hosts.

Either out of stupidity or sheer lack of staff, the T1 host ignored my multiple pleas for data and I was cold shouldered for several weeks. After some internet sleuthing I got in contact with the owner of the hosting company and he promptly re-activated my service.

This is also a friendly reminder to backup your zone files, and /verify/ your backups as well. If I had a viable backup of the T1, I probably could have been back online as fast as the archive extracts.
