Hi,

It's great and very important to promote FOSS, but my thinking is that if you want to reach the average Windows user that barely knows how to use their machine (and remember that zip functionality is built in it Windows) then making them download yet more applications to clog up their HDD's as well as add a layer of complexity doesn't help OpenNIC or them.

They need it to 'just work'. If it doesn't, then there's less point in making an application to change the resolvers for them in the first place.
It's like helping someone halfway across the road and then leaving them there.

Just my thoughts...

Also, programs like 7-Zip[1] are freely available (and under a F/LOSS
license) for windos. 7-Zip is a fantastic piece of software. Switching
to .zip doesn't make much sense when there are good alternatives
available.

that as it's aimed at Windblows users, it might be better as a .zip
file not a .tar. gz, what do you think? various softwares compressors
like ALZIP knows this kind of files, so i guess there is no problem
with this, and we make more this way more known the .tar.gz
compression, because .zip algorithm are private.... why promote
something close like .XLS or DOC files when you can promote open files
like ODS... Also, i noticed a couple of typo's in the README, which
also doesn't have the .txt extension, which I believe is needed for
Windblows to recognise it? Peter On Tue, 28 Feb 2012 12:44:40 -0500,
