OH GOD, PLEASE NO!!!!

We've had dealing with cesidian before.  Bad dealings.  Many times over many years.  My feeling on them is that they are not to be trusted, and I will vote with great passion against any association with them.

I've sent mail about the merger to Name.space and Cesidian Root. I've
looked for a way to contact Unifiedroot, IANIC and ORSN, but I haven't
found a way to contact them. Maybe someone else can? Have I missed any?

Sorry if I've taken a while, I've been trying to organise a campaign for
LibertyBSD (http://libertybsd.oz or http://libertybsd.neo). It's
essentially OpenBSD without the non-free firmware. It recommends the
OpenNIC nameservers in many cases too :P

In any case, the message that I sent to them is below.

Hi!

OpenNIC is an alternative DNS root, very similar to your project.

There have been discussions on the OpenNIC mailing list about whether or
not to do a merger with other DNS roots.

From a post that I wrote on the list, the main advantages of a merger are:

*Resources - technical, financial and otherwise - could be spent more
efficiently if a merger were to take place.

*Users would have a simpler choice - ICANN, or not ICANN.

*There would be less competition among the non-ICANN entities, so that
all competitive energy can be saved for ICANN.

*More domains would be available.

Please write a message to discuss AT lists.opennicproject.org to tell us
what you think.

Yours sincerely,

Riley Baird
