What bothers me is that you have sent multiple emails stating that you
do not wish to receive the messages about the wiki server, and even
after being told how to remove yourself from that list, you are still
trying to hold a discussion about why you don't want to see those
messages. This is about as pointless as someone who continuously sends
messages to a mailing list demanding to be removed from the list even
after several people point out that at the bottom of every message is
instructions on how they can remove themselves from the list. Yes, it
happens, and even though I am not the list administrator, it still
aggravates me every time.
I assume you do not have any filters set up because your previous emails
have given the impression that you are being flooded by the wiki server
notifications, that they are clogging up your mailbox. If you already
have those messages going into their own subfolder, then what is the
problem? Why all the emails criticizing the use of the reports list for
server status notifications? These types of messages are exactly the
reason why the list was created in the first place - to keep all of the
reports in one place.
For what it's worth, I do in fact care about the status of all the T1
and T2 servers. That was the whole point of creating the t2log page, so
that everyone could easily see at a glance if there were any problems
that need resolved. I personally keep this page open in a tab at all
times and take a look several times throughout the day. Server
availability has become somewhat of a pet-peeve for me. We have set up
mailing list reports, web pages with historical logs, and send out
personal emails when a server goes offline or fails testing... and yet
with all of these tools available, I will mention to someone that their
server has been offline for a week, and they ask me why nobody mentioned
this to them sooner. I honestly do not know what else we could possibly
do to help out.
