i would question whether opennic should be taking on responsibilities beyond the scope of dns, especially if sites in the icann namespace are already providing the same content or services
just my outsider opinion, worth exactly what you paid for it

Heya--

OpenNIC has been stable and self-reliant for some time now. You can tell
this, as the m/l has been rather quiet. This is good.

Now we need to come up with ideas to bring content to OpenNIC. We've had
a rather good discussion about this on #opennic on freenode, and I would
like to continue it here. Feel like your missing out? Join us on
freenode, even if you just idle away!

So the first idea is to bring social media to OpenNIC. This ca be done
using Diaspora. Good idea? What DNS name should we use?

The next idea was to create a status.net type of OpenNIC site for micro
blogging.

We've also had the suggestion off mirroring sites like wikipedia and
wikileaks. And another one for re-broadcasting radio stations.

so these ideas are a start, and can get some content onto OpenNIC. What
we failed at were thinking off original ideas that are unique and only
available on OpenNIC.

We need to be innovative, and come up with something unique. Someone has
to have an idea for this!!!!

Lets get our thinking hats on and discuss!!!!
