I am playing around with sphider-plus V2.2 at http://www.noodle.geek

It has some interesting features, but the UI out-of-the-box is
suprisingly rough.

You can submit an URL from the front-end, but it's painful and requires
later manual admin approval. It has some good improvements over standard
sphider, but I think it will require significant hacking and slashing to
clean it up.

I've just had it up a short time and I've only crawled a few sites. Just
sort of poking it with a stick at this stage....it's very 'alpha' aka
unstable, unreliable, etc..
