If you take a look at their wiki page at http://dot-bit.org/
Down at the bottom they have a task list...  Joining OpenNic is the last item on their list.  It's nice to know that OpenNic is their preferential choice to associate with, but it might have been nice if they had mentioned it to us before building up their whole project around assumptions.

If someone wants to extend the invite, it might be the kick they need to start moving towards full association with us, and as was already mentioned on IRC, it could bring some new content to our project.
