hm ok two questions:
1) why is it in the root-zone anyway, e.g. "dig . ns0.opennic.glue" it shouldn't be there if it only replies to .fur, e.g. someone of the rootzone should delegate to that server, e.g. it should only be replied when querying "dig fur ns0.opennic.glue"...
2) why does it reply recursively?
# dig google.com @ns8.opennic.glue -> correct output
# dig google.com @ns4.opennic.glue -> wrong output

Just keep in mine that NS4 is FurNic, and does not carry the OpenNic
root zone. If you want a root zone that includes all of the OpenNic
(plus FurNic and New Nations) TLDs, you will need to pick up that zone
from NS8.
Glad the new host is working out for you. This was one of the reasons
for the recent work on mapping where DNS queries come from, so we can
adjust services as needed.

Perfect! Thanks, finally :)_______________________________________________
Though my new root-hints looks like this:
. 3600000 NS ns4.opennic.glue.
ns4.opennic.glue. 3600000 A 84.200.228.200
. 3600000 NS ns8.opennic.glue.
ns8.opennic.glue. 3600000 A 178.63.116.152
Both servers respond from my location under 10ms - which is really
very good.

OK sorry to confuse the issue here... I meant to direct your attention
to ns8, rather than ns3. ns8.opennic.glue is the new server located in
Germany.

Due to the large number of users and T2 servers in your area, we_______________________________________________
recently added a new T1 server in Germany for the purpose of providing
lower lag-times. This server has been running stable for several weeks
now. For those operators who are getting their zone updates or
performing lookups from other locations on the globe, please point
your configuration to ns3.opennic.glue.
