yes and no.
It would be very useful if OpenNIC leads any table of public TLD records
consisting of an (optional?) field of WHOIS ressource - giving developers of
any whois client software a single and (hopefully) reliable source of
available whois data sources.
This does not mean that any TLD has to run a WHOIS for any SLD nor a WHOIS at
all.
On the other hand it would be nice to have at least basic WHOIS infos from all
(they still HAVE it public within their web or similiar frontends) as i.e. is
a name registered or not registered - any other stuff could be optional.
