I don't often speak on the list, but with this one i'd like to chip in :)
I'm FOR the idea of a "shortener" or linking tld.
but i'd go with a .lnk tld instead of .url / .uri

.tiny is way to big to be tiny :)

Would .url or .uri work? Does that clash with any open ICANN proposals? That'd be either one or two characters shorter, depending.

Maybe they are, I'm just sharing my opinion anyway.

It would be only for inside use.

BTW. I thought 1 letter TLDs were prohibited in OpenNIC.

So other example: as032.t or custom.t

Why would people use a.tiny/t or a.tiny/ when they can use  is.gd/a ?

The TLD would be otherwise worthwhile for OpenNIC-only services, but if it's supposed to be used by the grand public, then something with the minimum amount of characters would be better (dumb example: a.b)

What?

You want to make a URL shortener TLD but you want to make it longer than what's already out there? If it's not one one letter long, don't make it.

I think a TLD purely for a url shortener is a bit overkill, but that’s just me.   In other news, now that I have moved and are buying more servers / ips I plan to focus more on .key/.p2p in the near future, will probably talk to you guys more about it on IRC though.   NovaKing   From: discuss-request AT lists.opennicproject.org [mailto:discuss-request AT lists.opennicproject.org] On Behalf Of Lenny Guy

But .micro does not work like shortener script.

There is already .micro

Like before, I don't have infrastructure to operate TLD, I'll share with you my suggestion.

.tiny / .ant

What it will be?
- TLD for shortentning links, like - as1.tiny (random characters). Shortening service will be at register.tiny.

How it will work?
- Like other TLDs.

I hope you'll like it :D
