So apparently there is an RFC in the works for DNS over TLS: https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc7858

AFAIK it’s a proposed standard, and if it’s accepted, it will become part of DNS protocol, which means no more hacks like dnscrypt, which IMHO is a very good thing.
