I agree with you. It was already an established domain with openNIC so it
should in theory work or be allowed again. Also unrealted I'm still not
certain how mailing lists work but I never saw the response from Renard Bleu.
Either way .o may be lost to time.

Hi,
In that regard, .zip and .mov TLDs exist, where .zip is used on
compressed files, and .mov is used for movie files. I also think both
those domains and any extension that uses defacto or common file
extensions are generally not safe; however, .o is already an established
TLD in OpenNIC.

It seems the DNS server that is responsible for the .o TLD is down. I
would like to volunteer to operate a Tier 2 DNS, but I haven't hosted a
Tier-2 DNS before, and even if I could host one, I think it should be 2
different servers, different datacenters, and different countries, and I
don't have the funds to host 2 servers in different countries. Any
hosting outside of my country (don't be fooled by this domain ccTLD, I'm
not from Greenland) is pretty expensive due to currency conversion to
USD or EUR. It is clear that I don't meet the requirements to host a
Tier 2 DNS for a TLD.
Best Regards,
