If you have the Qt-dev package installed, you should be able to just do
"qmake && make" in the root folder - let me know if you have any
trouble, but should work fine.

Yes, when we get to the other platforms, I would appreciate help with
making packages and doing testing and things, indeed.

Indeed, yes, the daemon can run that way completely without the GUI, no
problem.
