I am referring types of speech that result in hosting providers or
domain registrars deciding (for their own safety) to cease and desist
providing the services they run.

With alternative DNS providers (like OpenNIC) it's possible the DNS
side of that could be avoided. It's still up to the DNS server owner's
discretion of course, but it seems less likely to happen there without
legal process. In addition most domains are centrally USA controlled.
I'm an American, but... I don't pretend to be happy with all our
net-legislation attitudes

Those are some of the (no texactly theoretical) concerns that prompted
me to test-run OpenNIC for a while. As well as the choice of
anonymity.

By the way sorry about the line wrapping and non-threaded follow ups.
Gmail is another US services that I should ditch. Or at least grab a
desktop client.
