When HTML5 started, I thought the "Living Standard" idea was extremely
dangerous, I frequently told people on message boards and Freenode that
it'll do nothing but benefit special interests and penalize "the little
guy". They told me I was crazy, and that would never happen due to
backwards compatibility.

Believe it or not, in defense of this, people were even telling me that
Microsoft had changed their ways regarding browser standards and there
was no chance of special interests taking it over.

A few months later? EME. And they still come to its defense, saying that
more people would use HTML5. But that's completely contrary to the
original purpose of HTML5, isn't it?

Whores, all of them.
