I'm just in the planning phase for all of this, I don't know where
it'll lead. Just wanted to hear from some members what they'd think. I
wasn't actually here long enough in any active role to know how FurNIC
split from OpenNIC, so I'd also like to hear about that from any
members who were around that long ago.
I'm probably the only remaining person here who was part of freeNIC. The idea was for a trust based, decentralized model. All participating servers could update the .free TLD. This model didn't fit OpenNIC at the time.
What you'll find though, and the dramas we've had for all these years is member participation. We did have a dedicated website admin, but he left. Members get very motivated, but they loose interest after a while.
I've only just handed over all my roles from within OpenNIC to Fusl and some others, they are doing a top notch job.
