O domain? This is a poor tld domain proposal. Hey guys this is an first alternative of ICANN. O. Domain, null domain, bbs domain, pirate domain… Is a game for nerds? I'm shocking…

Hello!

I'm updating the charter for ".o" as it was pointed out to me that the old version was outdated and had some controversial policies that -- while they were agreed upon by the community -- no longer made sense for us.

Here's the final copy, hosted on Google Drive:
Here's a basic list of changes from the old charter (it's still very similar):
  • Removed the clause stating our ability to charge for domains. Domains are now officially available for free, in perpetuity.
  • Removed statements regarding votes between the ".o"/ModernTLD domain holding community. All votes referenced in the document will just take place in this mailing list, regardless of whether or not an OpenNIC member holds a domain with us.
  • Clarified some of our abuse policies.
  • Added a complete list of reserved domains.
  • Clarified domain transfers, how the automated registration panel functions, and how manual email registrations function.
The main issue was the money, which wasn't going to happen anyways, but since that's the case we might as well make it official.

This is a formal proposal which will be voted on, since I'm not going to just change the Charter. Unless there are objections, discussion will end on Oct. 7 at 23:00 UTC, at which point a voting thread will be posted.
