It may be possible to create a server that proxies the test scripts but not actual ads. Then the blocklist files would have to be changed to the server.

You would however need to install a CA certificate on the PC.

Of course, you could just refuse to use these sites in the first place,
but I understand that's not ideal for most people.

I'm still using an ad-blocking hosts file (which has a similar end
result to this) on my phone and I don't have issues with it often.
