Hello everyone,
since I was looking for information regarding my problem I was browsing the
opennic.org page and the wiki a bit more. There I did find multiple dead,
unrelated or unusable links.
For example the registration links on https://wiki.opennic.org/opennic/dot
Some are dead links, some point to http server configuration pages/defaul
pages, some use invalid/old certificates and some point to pages that are
unrelated to the domain and/or opennic.
This is just one page of the wiki, I've found a few others.
Now, I know opennic is a community effort and would like to offer my help in
updating the wiki content (if you wish you can point me to a page that is in
need of an update).
However I can only write stuff from a user perspective not as someone who is
running his/her own dns server.
And the links is something I can't correct since I don't have the necessary
information (well I could remove the dead links).
In addition to the links I did find another problem.
On some pages the contact (hostmaster/abuse/webmaster) is providing a
opennic-only email address. While I understand that this looks appropriate
e.g. hostmaster AT opennic.chan for the .chan-domain, but it really hurts
usability.
Many people don't run their own email server and use a public provider. Any
opennic-only address is unreachable by almost all public email provider and
can only be addressed if you use a customized email server that uses opennic.
(Maybe there is another way, but it's not exactly user friendly.)
As mentioned before, I would be happy to help.
Best regards,
Christoph
