Sorry for the late reply, but I can explain what happened. Basically
we had an issue with the LDAP servers awhile back which was causing a
number of servers to be marked as offline incorrectly. So what I did
was shut down the code that auto-removed servers for being offline.
So all of the servers were continuously tested even though they were
failing to respond.

The a few weeks ago I re-enabled the auto-removal code to clean up all
the servers that were still failing to respond. There was a huge drop
in the list of active servers, but the ones that were removed simply
weren't responding to any queries.

If for some reason one of your servers were removed when they should
still be active, let me know. They should still be listed under that
"X" group and I can restore them from there, or tell you what aspect
is failing the testing and caused your server to be dropped.

I'm not an an OpenNic admin, so I am just surmising.
Stats when logged into servers.opennic.org:

Aprv: 1
Ok: 10
Err: 4
Dis: 22
Rm: 23
X: 217
Total: 60

Entirely possible something is going wrong on the opennic side.
This tweaked my interest so I did a quick audit of every IP in the
"Deleted" list. 17 of the 217 are (currently) working

When investigating the "X" (deleted) set of servers: 117 of them all
show "No longer listed since Oct 12, 22:50 UTC (5 weeks, 3 days)".
with 122 having the same added date: "2021-Sep-09"

So something probably happened in Oct.

Hi Tim,

I’m also interested why server been removed and can assure you
that at
least mine were running the entire time (e.g. no 48 hours downtime
in a
row), also the amount of servers seem unreasonable high for this
kind of
removal.

The list had similar problems in the past, maybe the webserverlist
itself was offline and falsely diagnosed T2 as offline?

Lennart

Good afternoon.

I already asked this in the IRC group at Libera.Chat and told me to
ask
here instead.

So, I have seen in the last months how several OpenNIC Tier 2
servers
get removed from the list. What is happening?

From memory, a fair amount of them were just down. As it is up to
the
community to keep them running.

After 48 hours of being "down" they are moved to a pending deletion
status. Which is what is shown at the bottom of:
https://servers.opennic.org/

Just found that this problem happend to my server too. Asking about re-approval of ns8.fr.dns.opennic.glue.
Jeff, maybe re-checking in DELETED state can be added? Because such deletion when validation server can't connect with other due to software/networking issue when server really works for other users is really wrong idea. For example, I haven't problems about reaching my server for 2 months (since I added my server to DNSCrypt lists), but I got removed here without any notifications...
