Sorry I didn't see these emails sooner, but I'm the one who adds peers to the root zone. So we don't really have any prerequisites regarding peering, other than you have your domains operational. I would need to know the TLDs you will be hosting, the IPs of your DNS servers that resolve your TLDs, and at least one good contact email address to discuss any technical issues that might come up. And we need to have a public vote on accepting your TLDs for peering, which may be difficult due to the limited traffic on the mailing list, but we'll see what we can do.

Hello again everyone,
A few weeks ago, I asked for feedback on my .micro TLD
proposal. After some helpful conversations with community
members, I believe I’ve found the right path forward.
Instead of a standard OpenNIC membership, I would like to
build .micro under a "microNIC" system that peers with
OpenNIC, similar to the FurNIC arrangement. I feel this is the
safest and most efficient approach. My project is
novel, essentially a symbolic "ICANN alternative" for
micronations.
While I intend to run this for years, I accept it may
remain a niche or solo project. By peering rather than fully
integrating, I avoid the risk of becoming "just another TLD
that disappeared" and cluttering the main root, while also
allowing me to build efficiently without waiting on
administrative delays.
I may be the only user, but I intend to operate this with
the rigor of a billion-dollar organization.
Current Progress:
- I currently operate two Tier-1 private DNS servers
acting as the master root for .micro and .uwu, plus two Tier-2
servers (with more planned).
- I have a working registry website supporting subdomain
creation, transfers, and gated access (e.g., .gov.micro).
-I am developing an independent CA and testing a custom
mail client.
With that said, how do I initiate peering similar to
FurNIC? Who controls the main root for peering, and what
requirements do I need to meet to demonstrate I'm ready?
Thank you.

@Cyberfox, That is a good idea but wouldn't it be more complicated for a solo person to manage? I've learned a lot but at the end of the day, my code is held together with help from forums and AI patching. What would the benifit of doing that be for me though?

Hello Everyone,
First time using a mailing list so I'm not certain on the formatting or procedure. I'm formatting it as a general email.
I have been running a tier 2 server for a month and noticed that the only domains from within openNIC that are working appear to be the ones hosted on be.libre. I just find that odd but that's not the main point of this email, I want to state it for context though.
Since Highschool i've been interested in Micronations and the quasi legal system they exist in. I think they are a unique and interesting project for anyone to undertake however I don't have the fortitude to stick with a micronation and prevent it from turning into a roleplay which would spit in the face of the entire premise. That being said, I want to do something similar or at the very least adjacent. Originally the .micro TLD was registered on openNIC for use by micronations however the project was abandoned around 2014, I want to revive it for this purpose.
I've discussed my plans with several medium sized Micronations and the committee for Microcon, they seem intrigued and enthusiastic about it. I doubt any will actively use the openNIC service as their primary personal (technically state) DNS service however they like the purpose and mission behind the project. I wanted to get the openNIC communities view on my project though and if people would support my TLD proposal once done.
I recognize there is a 3 month period of tier2 operation before i am allowed to propose a new TLD however i would also like to know the communities view on an exception to this as my registry software and charter are almost complete. I'll happily provide proof that all my server infrastructure has a 3 year lease and opensource my entire codebase so it can be recreated if needed.
Thank you, WagonWheel
