I have a feeling that if we operated as a T1, substantial changes would need
to be made to the OpenNic infrastructure, mainly due to the way in which we
'un-block' seized domains. I guess a few of you can probably guess how that
works. I'm not going to openly discuss the inner-workings on a public list,
but I would be happy to do so in a more private forum, should anyone be
interested. Therefore, it may be best to go with T2 and I guess, a peering
agreement.

In the past we have created our own TLD's, usually a unique one for the domain
which we are un-blocking or providing protection for (e.g. http://black.vpn).
Although to be perfectly honest, nobody has ever really used them, so we will
probably end up phasing them out in the near future. It also means there is
less likely to be conflict with any new TLD's created under ICANN's new rules.
The only one we are likely to keep is .aid, as we use this to enable to check
they have got the configuration correct.
