Everyone has brought up some very good points,
Lets address some issues at hand:
- I acknowledge that some t2 servers don't log anything. This
protects the anonymity of the end user, there is no reason to require
logging.
- We should just have some condensed numbers based upon the usage of
the servers. What ever this may be, some sort of global usage
statistics is better than nothing.
* Lets use this thread to create a criteria and a guideline that is
not only friendly to the server administrator and the network as a
whole but also to the end user and to protect their privacy.
I can envision a section of t2 servers that chose to participate in
the anonymous statistics as well as a section of servers that do not
participate in the statistics.
I can see this being an option in the t2 server registry.

This is precisely what I was referring to. As well as the amount of
OpenNIC queries relative to ICANN queries. This graph would give us a
good picture of the usage of the OpenNIC space.
I could even see a "popularity contest" of sorts, perhaps make a top
10 list of the most queried OpenNIC domains, sorted by popularity.
TL;DR: Lets find a way to make number porn work while keeping our
sanity and anonymity for those who want it.
