In the past we have played with the idea of collecting stats. I had cacti setup to monitor my DNS logs. Brian wrote a script that works on a named pipe to change any IPs to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx in realtime[0]. Cacti was too heavy for the job however.

The interesting data is the OpenNIC TLDs queried. for this maybe a script can be created to query the bind log as a pre-hook with logrotate? The script could print stats to a flat file published via HTTP..

Just to state the obvious, any TX operator who chooses to turn on query logging for their dns server should run Brians script[0].
