Hi John,

I'd tackle this problem like this:

1. OpenNIC -> ICANN
The MX of the Senders domain needs to use your central SMTP-Server as
Relay. Your Relay rewrites the Sends address from a AT b.c to
a AT b.c.relay.tld where relay.tld is a ICANN domain.

This can be achieved with sendmail, postfix,... what MTA are you using?

2. ICANN -> OpenNIC
The MTA of the sending ICANN domain will lookup the MX for
b.c.relay.tld which has to be your MTA on relay.tld and will send its
mail there. Then your MTA removes relay.tld from the Recipient address
and looks up the MX for b.c and relays the mail there.

OR

Your MTA removes relay.tld from the Recipient address and looks up
some nice table for where to forward mail for this particular domain
to (which should be easy to do).

This reads like a nice toy and I have a short domain to spare. If you
contact me off-list I'd like to help out with this. Got some years of
mail routing with sendmail on my back (yes I'm a masochist :-/).

Greets,
Falk
