Sometimes executive decisions need to be made so that we can continue
moving forward. Consider this... When I discovered that the root zone
hadn't had any real updates in nearly a year, I made my own executive
decision -- I wrote a new script that updates the root an a regular
basis. This decision affects *everyone* involved with OpenNic. Sure, I
could have brought it to the mailing list, I could have called for
discussion, which would have resulted in various conflicting opinions,
debates about concepts that were completely unrealistic, and with any
luck, a stalled vote some time later that wouldn't show anything except
that everyone wanted more frequent updates.

I bypassed all that, took it upon myself to get the job done, and had a
working script in place within a few days. Sometimes there's no reason
to debate an issue when its already clear that the majority either agree
with the changes, or simply don't care. There are no significant
differences in the license that will truly affect anyone or their
content here, but if someone wishes to stand behind the principle of the
SA license, we will accommodate them. Sometimes changes need to be made
when there's no point bickering about the semantics of the change.

If you were to write your own root zone generator, there would likely be
some people who decided to serve that zone from their T2 instead of
mine. And if it were discovered that your zones were more reliable than
mine, it wouldn't take long for everyone to stop using my script and
start using yours. THAT is a good model of the demographic nature of
OpenNic. Nobody dictates which tools you use to get the job done, we're
just trying to provide the framework so everyone can work together.
