sweet that worked next question i found this; ftp://ftp.internic.net/domain/   named.root should i use these as well or stick with strictly opennic.glue. also when i try to start the ISC BIND service i get error 1067: the process terminated unexpectedly. the event viewer shows this
C:\Windows\system32\dns\etc\named.conf:2: expected quoted string near '“C:\Windows\SysWOW64\dns\etc...'

but i've checked in my named.conf i have this set
options {
    directory “C:\Windows\SysWOW64\dns\etc”;
};
