It's good to know the voting system is getting a fresh coat of paint. My personal gripe with the current system is the mailing list (although I thought there was meant to be a simple voting system on the main site aligned to user accounts?). No idea how voting ended up back on the list.

If i'm honest, I find the mailing list in general to be an ineffective way of managing a project on the scale of opennic. I tend to find it cumbersome and outdated. My guess is it probably puts off less techy users (not that the list is difficult to use) from participating in the project.

So if the voting system is going to be overhauled, why not do the list at the same time? My suggestion would be to convert the whole thing to a forum. It would make it far easier to monitor things, manage users, control voting etc. Best of all, it's public and easily accessible to anyone. Heck, i'll even host it for you for free!

Just my two cents while we're on the subject, be interesting to see what others think.
