‎I've never been keen on mailing lists, but like you I can see why others
like them. I find them clunky. A forum has many benefits and would
technically be more private, since only mods or admins can see ip addresses.
Its also much easier to moderate and I don't have to get reams of spam when
there's an argument. :p

One of my primary reasons for suggesting a forum is that most premium
scripts, IPB, Vb or xenforo come with inbuilt voting system. I used to run a
large community on IPB and there was a massive amount of functionality for
voting. I wouldn't allow people who weren't registered on the forum to vote
but i'd go for anonymous voting.

My reasons for proposing a forum are slightly selfish, but only because i'd
like to help run/maintain it. Been itching to try out xenforo for a while, so
my views are a tad biased. ;D‎

It would be nice to hear what those who have been specifically tasked with
reforming the voting system think.

I agree; I would personally prefer a forum although I completely
understand the attraction of a mailing list for some users. An example
of some problems mailing lists cause is your message, HTML email with
colours and a random attachment which some people find annoying. (I
know your phone probably botched it, mine does too :)

How does this proposed voting system work? Is it anonymous? I would be
happy to help with implementing it if I can be of any help :)
