I know some people prefer mailing lists, but
I personally find it difficult to always have
to do a grep on specific things if I want
to fish them out later - noting that the subjects
are rarely well formed. I do a huge amount
of email every day and adding more to that
load is not favourable to my way of computing.

My preference is for forums. I use many of them
all day and it has been part of my daily routine
for many years. One big advantage is that a forum
is always open and up to date. No action is
required by the user. It's always just there.

A really big advantage of forums is the easy
polling. Voting is built right into most forum
software. The current voting software having
been broken with no one able to fix it makes
this a particularly compelling choice.

Ole Juul
