It's not that email users are being discriminated against. It's IRC is
used for real-time work which fills a gap that email has. Any ideas that
come to mind on there are relayed to the email list. It's also a place
where we get to know each other socially.
Please, remember, this is not discrimination. It's just the chosen
medium that the majority of the active members use.
Really though, it's not hard to fire a session up on your server inside
screen + irssi. I do this and I barely go on a computer at night time.
This is the very point woood quinn was making.
People just have to understand and accept that projects like this and
others are conducted via IRC and really, it's not that hard to join the
channel.

No one is paid full-time to work on OpenNIC. It's all volunteer work. I
barely work on OpenNIC during the day. We talk a lot about the running
of OpenNIC, socialize(means, just bullshit around) and use it to
communicate with other members in realtime.
I hope this clears some things up?
