Dear all,

I am much a fan of this .AAA project.

Two things that come into mind:
a) legal institutioanlisation.....are youngsters allowed to register a domain - or I would say: let's make possible.....but 18+ could creep in en act like 18-, and police is always happy to arrest youngsters (at least in Europe) under the pretext of 'hacking' though policepeople I think have my no means the intelligence to understand hacking. These kind of issues can better be dealt with upfront than afterwards.
b) costs of Icann application are very high regardless the outcome, and chances of approval very low.

I think opennic is a fine party to go with, as well as the SARZ/alternative Root Zone I chair, as well as Unified Root.

Opennic has most experience with alternative DNS I think, but in order to see opennic domains one must change DNS settings in the PC.

That is why we, SARZ, are finalising a browser in which an alt DNS resolver is built in (somehting Unified Root already has). And we will go on with search engine for alt names, something Opennic is further with (mngo search?).

Unified root is in my opinion far away from a search engine.....their browser works fine but exists since 2006 I think and since then little progress has been made in the company. Decision and mgt. is made by investors and not technical people.

I hope above is a fair representation. If opennic agrees to .AAA, I think they are the quickest to realise the domain. SARZ hopes to be quick to have browser and s-engine and is prepared to include opennic extensions to be visible in the browser. If opennic's mngo search is prepared to index .AAA, the circle is complete. But youngster need to be told what browser to use and what search engine - Internet Explorer (to see it) and Google (to search) will not work. IE and Google will work in case of Icann recognition, but that can take much money and many years.

Maybe things can go in parallel, if people agree. Quick realisation by opennic and in parallel attempt to be Icann recognised.

Best regards!
