I know that there are some concerns about OpenNIC being tied to a
church, you have religious people who feel that they can't donate to
another type of belief system and non-religious people who would be
concerned about giving their money to a church in general.

All I could say is that these funds would be earmarked for only OpenNIC
purposes, and it's our faith that believes in the same thing that
OpenNIC does, and not OpenNIC catering to our faith.

Thanks for pointing out that our statement of faith isn't up on the site
if you notice the /about link is actually broken which gives the
overview of what we stand for. I will upload it and shoot you a link soon.

However, again, the idea here isn't that the Kopimist Church would run
OpenNIC, the money would be earmarked for OpenNIC and we would have to
come up with some form of written agreement between KCoI and the users
of OpenNIC (since there is no OpenNIC ORG), where we will make available
a monthly amount available in your fund which could be spent however the
users feel fit (or, better yet, we would have an OpenNIC representative
who we would transfer the funds to -- and allow them to interface
between OpenNIC and the KCoI for how the funds are used).
