I can think of two pertinent questions that have me feeling leery about this:

1) Will this really attract a lot of attention?  At present, W3Techs report that the xxx TLD accounts for less than two-hundredths of a percent of the web.

2) Even if the idea were to take hold and attract a sizable amount of attention, will it be the type of attention we want?
