Hello all,

I was just looking for another server and noticed that
the geolocation service appears to based its information
on where the IP is registered as opposed to where it
is located, which in my mind would be more practical.

As you know there are a number of services, so perhaps
it is difficult to pick a good one. I don't have much
knowledge of how they work in practice. However, for
the IP that I am currently using, there is a clear
difference in results. On https://www.iplocation.net/
the first and fourth ones (IP2location and DB-IP) show
the actual physical location, the others do not.

Perhaps no individual service is consistent, but if
you want to check what I'm saying, my IP is 107.191.96.48
which is located at the Telehouse data centre at
85 10th Ave, New York, NY. So you can see, the other
geolocators are off by several thousand miles, and that
makes a significant difference in the choice of domain
server.

I'm wondering if it isn't a good idea to list servers
by location so that one can make a choice using that
criteria as well. It's easy enough to use ping to
fine tune it from there.
