Policy drafts are what we vote on here, by definition they have to be created first.JonahOn Jan 6, 2017 3:01 PM, <spaesani AT mail.com> wrote:there hasnt even been a motion let alone a vote on an opennic CA. policy drafts are a,little presumptuous but hey you're time not mine.

Sent from myMail for AndroidI'm putting together this group to draft specific policies regarding Certificate Authorities and encryption. These are discussions not everyone wants to be a part of because they're essentially just going to be a drafting stage to what WILL be published here.I'm hoping the members of this group will be able to collaborate in an extended discussion on talk.geek to create policy drafts for future OpenNIC policies and systems regarding running an SSL CA, and those drafts will be published to this mailing list for discussion as a whole, once this group decides they're ready for being approved by the community at large. It isn't a means to keep people out of course, our discussions will be publicly viewable and anyone can reply to add their thoughts, I just don't believe everyone here wants to take part in what is essentially a very long brainstorming and writing process. That's the main point of all of these Working Groups.JonahOn Jan 6, 2017 12:47 PM, "Amunak" <amunak AT amunak.net> wrote:Can we please *not* fragment the discussion to what is essentially a third-party discussion board? This mailing list is well-archived (not only online but also by people who keep the emails in their mailboxes) which is important to the integrity of OpenNic. If it is truly required (which I doubt) there could be a mailing list made for just the CA-related stuff. For more prompt communication there is also IRC.
I also don't see why anyone couldn't "contribute" as usual (ideally just here over the mailing list).

I forgot to mention: Everyone that would like to help out needs an account on http://talk.geek/ (or talkdotgeek.com on the legacy network). I want to keep extended discussion there so as not to clutter the Mailing List in the future. A wiki account may also be useful.

In connection to my "Need for an OpenNIC TLD CA" list thread I posted previously, I'd like to organize the formation of an Encryption Working Group to facilitate the development and implementation of a Certificate Issuance system for OpenNIC, as we have no way to issue certificates to domain holders at the moment outside of individual self-signed certificates.
Anyways, see my other post to this list for more information about the "why" behind this. I'm merely proposing a way to get some interested members of the community together so we can work on a solution for this problem.
See for more info: http://wiki.opennicproject.org/EncryptionWG
If you'd like to contribute please tell me so I can add you as a member. Hopefully after this is created we can get a section of some sort on talk.geek for extended discussion and drafting ideas.
