This makes two of us then. I really do not care what the zone is called, .maker, .manufacture, all is fine by me.

I am not "helpless" with Linux, as the matter of fact I have some mad skills with it - I run my own MAAS cluster at home on 4 Proliant, since 2017 or so. I just made LXD work and I replaced the KVM slices. If I was not so busy with 3D printing I would be spending my time with learning JuJu, I maintain my own infrastructure on the ICANN side since last year - but I am not a formally trained and talented UNIX pro.. I prefer to spend my time with manufacturing. Everything I learned about Linux in the last 25 years I learned on my own, because it was / it is useful to me on the factory floor or in the engineering office.

Lets hope someone is going to be interested to help out on Github or some other repo, to store the OpenSCAD script collection. I design with care to be able to transfer the models to the mold shop, to the punch-presses, to the machine shop. Its not enough to model something and print it in plastic, it must be transferable to mass-production. So as long as others maintain the infrastructure I can build and maintain content wikis - and hopefully attract shop owners, free-lancers and other pros and the zone grows.

The ICANN side is insanely commercialized and its becoming a zoo, and after what happened with .ORG OpenNIC makes a lot of sense. I am hoping to grow something much closer to an intranet - purposed to contribute manufacturing capacity.

I’ve been wanting to dip my toe in the water with OpenNIC.
Interested in helping out however I can.

I can spin up a VPS for this if desired. I know enough to keep it
separated out from the main server :)

If you are interested grouping up to create one or more
manufacturing-related zones, tier servers please reply to this thread.
I have basic skills with Linux and programming so I prefer
manufacturing-related role. I would like to work on content
development,
and leave admin / management roles to others. I am working on this and

relevant ideas for years, I have some existing content I am happy to
share under CC-BY-SA.

Cheers,
Mr. Sandor Kunyik
