That does indeed sound mean.
If you have a VPN to hand, it might be worth testing through that.

What router are you using between your computer and your uplink?
Some linksys routers have been known to hi-jack outbound DNS queries and respond with answers from the DNS set in the router.
If not, I've heard of stories that the ISP them selves hi-jack DNS queries, and quite honestly - that's just mean.
Check it out, see whats up.

It's very weird. :-/

If you're still using the BlockAid IP's, run these:
1) nslookup grep.geek
2) nslookup grep.geek 178.21.23.150
If you're not using BlockAid, just replace the IP above with the T2 you are using as your Primary DNS.

Okane
Thank you for the answer. 10.10.1.10 is my ISP's DNS server. I tried several combinations
of Tier 2 servers. Now I even tried to use the BlockAid Setter. It changed my DNS servers
(so I now has 178.21.23.150 and 205.204.88.60) but the problem wasn't solved. :( Any other
ideas?

Ideally, you should really be using two OpenNic resolvers for full compatibility. This ensures that should the primary DNS go down or if it is unable to resolve the domain in question, the query will be passed to the secondary server. At the moment it looks like 10.10.1.10 (your router?) is your secondary server, I would change this to one of the Tier 2 servers.
Feel free to have a go with our DNS servers, we resolve all OpenNic TLD's: http://www.blockaid.me
If you're unsure of the configuration, you can use our application: http://www.blockaid.me/2012/03/blockaid-dns-setter-making-the-switch-to-blockaid-dns-even-easier/

Hello,
I am trying to set-up OpenNIC on my laptop but I have run into complications. I am able to access
ICANN TLDs (e.g. www.yahoo.com) with an OpenNIC DNS server but when I try to access OpenNIC
TLDs (e.g. grep.geek), it doesn't resolve.
I tried three different DNS servers without a success. I did flush my DNS Cache manually and
restarted the laptop. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM. Here's the output from
ipconfig - http://pastebin.com/e6YUMu99 and nslookup - http://pastebin.com/bxMiJzWi. I can
successfully ping the DNS server. Interestingly, I'm also unable to access OpenNIC proxies.
My ISP is a little, local one. We have a good relationship and he's never tried anything funny. I
don't think that it's his doing. What should I do? :-(
Thanks for the (coming) help!
