Given the recent action by ICANN, it seems to me that now is the moment
to become well-known. I have never run an interest page on facebook,
but I am sure this is potentially a route to get much wider recognition.
There are a lot of people discussing freedom in various forms on FB.
Like it or not, it must be the fastest route to breaking into the
mainstream.
The existing FB page has 24 likes and is up-to-date to 2001 AFAICS. Can
I suggest we
- add some enthusiastic articles to a FB group
- echo the highlights of opennic activity in a newsfeed on FB
- link to the best nameswitcher wizard
- perhaps put a Q & A session there inviting people to ask if
puzzled/stuck -- and answering of course
- show images of fascinating sites not available under ICANN
- ...
Then we should all spend 10 minutes each week linking to it in other
discussions or apropos relevant current news.
Or is the infrastructure not ready for a rapid increase in use? (I am
ignorant about this, sorry)
FWIW, I also think the logo is a bit stuffy. I would have preferred
something that represented transparency -- perhaps with outline letters,
but choosing a typeface with more personality. I think it should have a
sufficiently identifiable initial letter (or some other part) that could
be used as a favicon and on selector buttons when we have quick-switch
applications available for everybody's android gadgets, and for use as
an avatar on chats and bbs etc etc
