I disagree that the non-aliased version looks worse.

It could look better. I will try to have a play with Illustrator when I get
home
to see if I can get a cleaner image out.

The search box is now looking much better :)

My suggestions for the css will fix the image padding up quickly for all of
the
icons on the home page.
