Am I missing something here?

It seems that someone pulled the plug on a server being used for
DDOSing maybe using an amplification attack, and someone on the end of
the attack or in some way responsible for the network the attacks were
coming from doing as Brian pointed out the right thing.

How can this spur the vitriol I have read about such an action?

And as I think Christopher pointed out, this kind of attitude is not
helpful.

Alex M seems you seem to have over reacted... or as I ask, have I
missed something?
