I know we're not the biggest project out there, but it's possible that the EFF might be interested in this if we hold some sort of mark on ".free". At least they'd be able to tell us if we have any chance of doing anything.

TLDs by means of copyright, trademark, or some other means of
intellectual property protection? After all, just because ICANN is
bigger, if OpenNIC had the name first, should they not still have
first right to it? After all it's the same internet...
I don't think it's really that cut and dry from a legal stand point, I
think we could probably cobble together a little bit of a legal leg to
stand on if we put our heads together...
