I actually didn't know that. Although it would have been a nice TLD
if it weren't already a DNS system as you've just said.

Would be nice to see .bit resolved using OpenNIC though.

I can't tell if you're aware or not, but .bit is an existing
decentralised DNS system using the same technology as Bitcoin. I am
suggesting resolving the TLD, not creating it.
