Yes that's what I mean , 'a number of them on different topics '.

That would leave one multi topic list for motioning topic focused lists.

The email client , or whatever client, is then used to organize conversations by topic(subject) or people as usual.

You can also create a list per member for those who talk a lot like subscribe at jason@opennic.

Focused mailing lists? What's that exactly?
Do you mean making a number of them for
different topics? That sounds workable,
but with the one we have there were about
four votable items mixed into the text
just this evening and no clear way to decipher
people's overall view on them. So, the single
list we have now is certainly not focused.
