Welcome Craig. And no there are no restrictions on the
mailing list subjects, though it's mainly used for
discussion regarding new TLDs and servers etc.

For more trivial and faster moving discussion we tend
to use IRC. We're on Freenode #opennic

There is also a new OpenNIC channel on Discord, although
there is not much chat there. In fact the level of chat
on OpenNIC channels (including the mailing list) varies
very much. There might not be an email here for a month,
and then suddenly there's a whole flurry of emails about
something. These last few months, IRC has been a little
slow compared to past times, but you're welcome to go
there and liven things up a little.

Regards,
Ole Juul (vvande on IRC)
