all very interesting stuff!
as for creating my own dns, actually I have a business connection, simply
because I need the faster speeds as spend so much time online, so i have 5
static ip addresses!

actually getting something soon, its a honey pod, a new crypto offering, not
sure when they will ship it to me but its on pre order! so excited about
that. if you want more info let me know ill send you a link.

didnt know about the proxy that's exactly what I was talking about a proxy
to let people access opennic domains without changing dns if they cant do
so.
take care

This wouldn't work because you connection's IP address changes and the
majority of DNS settings use IP addresses.

You would be able to get quite far with a VPS which costs about £3 / €3 per
month.

One issue is that every site would need to add domainname.tld.opennic.org to
their hosting setup, so you would still need site operators to opt-in by
adding configuration, and most people in this space will have their own
ICANN
domains too.

http://proxy.opennicproject.org exists to help people view opennic domains
without needing to set up DNS.

In terms of ease of use devices like a Pi Hole (which is mainly a network ad
blocker) are the way to go, or one of my own projects is a router pre
configured to use a VPN service, so you would connect to this device's wifi
instead of your ISPs, but I need a job to pay for my hobbies so it's all
paused.

Regards
