I think, this was not and will be not the intention of OpenNIC. Look
at your resolver statistics. Less than 1 percent of the queries are
inside the OpenNIC zone(s).

The intention is more to be out of control, or lets say independent
from the US DoC.

To have a web site and e-mail accounts inside the OpenNIC world is not
the right thing for a normal end-user. It is more an island for
technicians like you and me.

So, offer your customers and friends your support in having an email
account and a web site in the ICANN world.

No, you don't. As part of the carter of the OpenNIC Project: You can
not register any existing ICANN TLD. And with respect of lawful issues
like copyright and ownership, I would not vote for the OpenNIC TLD .aol
