This sounds more as a workaround then a solution as this may break many
typical scenarios on many different distros, which usually have their own way
to set up networking at all.

From this i would hardly prefer i.e. a simple binary program distributors
easily can integrate into their system / network setup tools and/or more or
less advanced users can use byself on console or with frontend tools (i.e.
see my earlier post today).
