I hate to be the party pooper but if any TLD is likely to cause consternation
with a body that has the cash (and bloody mindedness) to buy a TLD it it's the music business.

I have no idea whether they are likely to want it, but is this point not a consideration?

Well, we don't need to panic or anything. We have been running for quite
some time and only had one collider (.biz) a long time ago. Also, to
get an ICANN TLD it will cost tens of thousands of dollars and probably
some sort of screening and meetings and whatnot. ICANN has made a very
cost prohibitive TLD system and thus it is fairly unlikely just anyone
will come along and collide our TLDs.

EDIT: Apparently I sent this only to Peter a moment ago... Clearly the
list needs some tweaking :)

So that answers my earlier question. This seems quite discouraging, if,
in theory all of the OpenNIC TLDs could in actuality be taken away at
the whim of someone who runs a more acknowledged D.N.S. system! Peter

The main problem I have with this, is that depending on how things
play out, ICANN (for now at least) will ALWAYS trump us because we
have no way to claim a TLD. Since it is a policy not to create
collider TLDs, we would likely have to remove all our .music domains
eventually. This will only get worse if we don't think of some way to
protect our TLDs. Anyway, just a thought. Not saying we SHOULDNT do
it... just considering that if the .music people are serious, we will
likely lose the TLD in time. On 3/8/2012 2:21 PM, Hospedaje Web y
