I do not know yet if there is any critical inherent problem in what is
being proposed (the intent is good), my initial reaction was simply to
ask myself if this was a solution looking for a problem.

As I mentioned, I'm sure many others besides myself maintain separate
accounts at different providers pretty effortlessly.
In the end, we can wait for other members to give their opinions as well
when their timezones catch up and/or put to a vote to get the OpenNIC
members thoughts on the matter.
I'll go with the general consensus. After all, we are an online democracy :)
I did like your idea of giving users the option of using an OpenNIC
login or using a unique-to-that-site login. It gives them a choice.
